Thank you D~*~This lovely bombé shaped poupée necessaire; a special accessory for early fashion dolls such as Huret, Rohmer or Blampoix, and was initially offered in the finest doll boutiques in Paris during the 1860s. Boutique shops such as Huret or Giroux that specialized in luxury items. These are now very hard to locate and considered a lavish treasure for an early French poupée, especially when found in such pristine condition. They were made in assorted sizes for the most petite demoiselle to the much grander sized poupée. A later mademoiselle begged to model this extraordinary find, and so we relented! This luxurious bag is a perfect size for a marked 4 Parisienne Poupée; a standard Huret size. This rare bombe shaped leather bag is beautifully constructed with firm sidewalls of sumptuous wine colored silk velvet and fine tooled leather. The flat hinged lid has a working tiny closure with a metal turn lock. Inside, this wonderful item retains three sewing implements. Ornate, lovely wide silk velvet decorative straps with gilded button decoration. Two leather handles in excellent condition and finally the interior is lined with red paper. The exterior of this incredibly well preserved bag is in excellent condition; far better than most that we have seen come to market after a century and a half or more since it was made. The length meaures approximately 3.5 " ( 9 cm ) The body height is 1.5" tall and 3.5" high with handle ( 9 cm ) This is a fantastic item in museum condition.
